CSULB Researchers will be part of the Utah FORGE enhanced geothermal energy demonstration project. Our team, headed by Jonathan Ajo-Franklin at Rice University, will demonstrate how new permeability can be created in mapped in hot bedrock so that energy can be extracted. Two MS Students working with Matt Becker will conduct hydraulic experiments observed by distributed acoustic sensing. Experiments begin in 2022.
