NATURAL WATER SYSTEMS

Our lab works at the intersections of people, water, and biology. We are studying how groundwater discharge from islands affects tropical reefs and how groundwater impacts streams.  We have studied the shrinking glaciers of the Italian Alps and flow through the bedrock of New York State.  We discovered how the ancient inhabitants of Rapa Nui (Easter Island) derived water supply from groundwater seeps at their coast.  We use traditional coring, drilling, hydraulic testing, along with advanced fiber optic technologies to understand these systems.
